There’s no feeling quite like the one you get when you step out in an outfit that makes you feel like the best version of yourself. Fashion is not just about trends and labels—it’s about self-expression and authenticity. It’s about finding what fits your unique style, what makes you feel confident and comfortable. But what happens when your favorite piece gets ruined? Fear not, my friends. I have a solution for you.
My Personal Story: From Bleached to Bold
Having been a fashion writer for over a decade, I can assure you that fashion mishaps happen to everyone—even to those of us who live and breathe style. I recently had a misadventure with my favorite jumpsuit. I accidentally got bleach on it while getting my hair done. Yes, even the most experienced among us can have a clumsy moment.
The jumpsuit in question was a 100% cotton piece that I absolutely adored. It fit my style perfectly, and I always felt confident wearing it. When I saw the bleach stains, I was gutted. But then I remembered something that I had come across – fabric dye from Dylon. I decided to give it a try.
The Transformation Process: Using Fabric Dye
Here’s how I brought my beloved jumpsuit back to life:
- I used a tub of fabric dye from Dylon. It’s a simple process. All you have to do is pop the tub into the washing machine along with your garment.
- You have to run the washing machine on a cotton cycle, just like normal. It might look a bit daunting when you see the dye spinning around your washing machine, but trust me, it’s all good. The clothes that went in afterwards weren’t dyed.
- The result was spectacular. My jumpsuit looked absolutely brilliant. It wasn’t patchy, and it completely covered the bleached bit. It was as if it had never been ruined.
My Personal Tips: Making the Most of Your Clothes
Here are some tips based on my experience:
- Always check the fabric/material of your clothes before using fabric dye. In my case, the jumpsuit was 100% cotton, which I think made a difference.
- Don’t fret if you see the dye spinning around your washing machine. It won’t harm your machine or dye the clothes you put in afterwards.
- Fabric dye can be your savior when you accidentally ruin your favorite pieces. It’s a cost-effective way to revive your clothes and keep them in rotation for longer.
I even purchased another one of those purple jumpsuits because I love the fit and style so much. Now, I have two of them in my wardrobe.

So I was gutted recently when I ruined my favourite jumpsuit by getting bleach on it when I got my hair done at the hairdressers. So I decided to give this stuff a try. It is fabric dye from dylon. And basically you pop this tub into the washing machine like this, along with whatever it is that you want to dye, in this case, my ruined jumpsuit, which is 100% cotton, by the way, so I think that makes a difference. But anyway, it goes into the washing machine and you have to run it on a cotton cycle just like normal. It looks kind of scary when all of the dye is spinning around your washing machine, but it was absolutely fine. The stuff that went in afterwards wasn’t dyed. This is how my jumpsuit came out. I think it’s absolutely brilliant. It’s completely saved it, as you can see. It looks great. It hasn’t come out patchy or anything. It’s completely covered the bleached bit. And I did buy the purple one again, so I have two now.video
