Finding Your Unique Style
You know, I remember when I first started exploring my style. I was drawn to vibrant colors and unique patterns. I loved the idea of wearing something that no one else had, something that was truly me. But sometimes, finding that unique piece can be challenging, not to mention expensive. That’s when I discovered the magical world of DIY fashion. I realized I could take a simple, affordable piece of clothing and transform it into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
One of my favorite DIY fashion techniques is watercolor tie dye. It’s simple, affordable, and most importantly, fun. And the best part? You can do it at home.
Materials You’ll Need
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A blazer and a dress (or any garment you’d like to transform)
- A metal pot
- Water
- RIT dye (I used tropical teal and royal purple, but feel free to choose your favorite colors)
- Dish soap
- Gentle detergent for washing
The Watercolor Tie Dye Process: You’re an Artist Now!
So, how do we do this? Let’s break it down:
1. Fill your metal pot with water and put it on the stove on high. Just before it starts boiling, turn it down to medium high heat to sustain the temperature.
2. Next, add a teaspoon of dish soap to the water. Shake up your RIT dye, and pour it into the pot.
3. Now for the fun part. Take your dress or blazer and dip dye it in the pot. Keep some kind of movement going, bringing it up and down. Don’t just leave it in the pot. This process takes only a few moments, unless you want a super rich color. For a more watercolor look, a couple minutes should do.
4. Once dyed, rinse your garment with cool water until the water runs clear.
5. Repeat the process with your second color. For my blazer, I dipped the bottom over the blue. Again, rinse until the water is clear.
6. Finally, wash your garment in your washer and dryer with a gentle detergent.
And voila! You have a unique, watercolor tie dye garment that’s truly you.
Conclusion
DIY fashion is all about expressing your unique style and having fun while doing it. It’s not about what’s trendy or what everyone else is wearing. It’s about what makes you feel beautiful, confident, and true to yourself. So go ahead, try watercolor tie dye, and show the world your true colors. Trust me, they’re beautiful.
here’s how I watercolor tie dye this dry clean only blazer and this dress first fill a metal pot with water and put it on the stove on high until it’s right before it starts boiling right before it starts boiling you wanna turn it down to a medium high heat so that the temperature sustain and I’m using the RIT dye more in the colors tropical teal and royal purple next pour a teaspoon of dish soap in the water shake up the dye really well and pour it in the pot and you’re gonna take your garment and you’re gonna dip dye it in the pot overall you wanna keep some type of movement to it bringing it up and down don’t just set it in the pot and this literally only takes a few moments unless you want the color super super rich but for more watercolor look only a couple minutes and I did the same thing with the blazer once you take it out you’re gonna take it over to your sink rinse it with cool water until the water is clear next I’ll take the purple and we’ll redo that process all over again for the blazer I did dip it on the bottom over the blue and then once again you rinse it until it is clear then you’re gonna take it and wash it in your washer and dryer with a gentle detergent and that is it I absolutely love how these turned out definitely let me know what you think and follow me here for more amazing upcyclesvideo
